I know I say this every few months but...

I NEED TO CLEAN MY ROOM.

The desk is a mess of paperwork and Coke bottles (sick) and my vanity is buried underneath 6 months of small change and my daily beauty routine.

So I think thats todays goal.

Also, being the grown up adult I am, I finally have a credit card. It's hard enough for me to control my impulses, usually if I see something I really want, I buy it and don't eat for a week, but now I have CREDIT. So I have to either leave the card at home, or only use it when I know I can pay it off. The other option I have is using it for my daily spending habits (groceries, coffee, yknow) and paying it off via my online banking at the end of the day or couple days. Which is cool cause I get Airmiles on my card. Heh. But yesterday I took the card out to finish Christmas shopping, and apply for school online (way easier than filling out a paper application, as I realize after years of neglect, my handwriting is atrocious), and using the card is exhilarating! But I have to be cautious of that feeling and the instant gratification that goes along with it. I don't want to be like some people I know and live my life on credit and a whim, only to have mommy and daddy bail me out and never learn anything from it. Actually, come to think of it, that would be a pretty nice life, but then hard working people would look down on me and make fun of me behind my back. HAH. Add to this thought at the end of the entry.

Also, I am now an employee of EventAlmanac. Its a pretty exciting thing, and I urge you you check out the site and even sign up if you are an event planner, or even someone who can provide services to event planners (DJs, graphic artists, etc).

Speaking of events, I haven't gone out in probably a month, aside from the art opening and to shop. Next weekend is a three banger weened, the Birdapres ep release on Friday, as well as Dj Five, and on Saturday, Skratch Bastid is coming through.

So more on my thought about spoiled people: I have a really big issue with people who don't know how to manage their money and then whine about it later. I have REALLY bad money management skills, but I know that when I can't afford something, that I should not get it. Or that if I need to get something, that I should put money aside for it. What I should really do is put together a spending plan, but I'm still really impulsive, so it's really hard for me to follow one. So I understand the whole "not having money thing". I work a full time job and I'm still perpetually broke or living paycheck to paycheck. So my next years goal (along with a few other big ones) is to balance my living, and work out a spending plan that works for me so that I can start putting together a larger savings so I have the possibility of buying a condo or house when I get out of school. Its a lofty goal, but I think I can manage. It's that whole "wants versus needs" thing. Yeah, I want to party 3 times a week, but I need to pay my cellphone bill. I really do need to update my wardrobe, is there some things I could sell or trade and do it on the cheap? Christmas is coming, do I have enough money to buy (or make) everyone a little something, or did I spend it all on myself? I've encountered a lot of money talk this week. Doing the show made me broke for a month, but at the end of it, I rewarded myself and spent the money I made back on things I wanted and kind of needed as well (a dress winter coat, some makeup, and 2 pairs of boots among those things).

All of this comes around after having to confront someone about their own spending habits, and how they let me down. It made me reconsider my own spending habits, and my lifestyle. And it's scary, but when you consider the options (lifelong debt, bankruptcy), cutting back wasteful spending is the better thing to do.

Well, this ranty mcrant should end, it's ten a.m. and I need to try to get the boy out of bed so I can clean in here. Thanks for reading my overly preachy blog today haha.

Alot has happened in the past week..

It feels like my whole life is being uprooted, and it appears as I am not the only one! But it's all good things happening so I'm not going to jinx it by talking about it like I always do.

However, let me just say one thing. I know I'm late on the game to talk about this, but how awesome is it to be alive during this, the most historic of elections? And I'm not just talking about the fact that for once, the people of the USA collectively pulled together and pulled their heads out of their asses for a moment (literally, a moment, as in the same 24 hours, California and several other states voted to ban the marriage of homosexuals, wtf, amirite?). I'm talking about HOW it was done. Someone has finally used the internet for good! Social networking how it should be! Coming together for a cause! By using site like Twitter, Blogger, Tumblr, and Facebook, not only did he attract a younger generation of voters who would normally be completely apathetic about the election (even facing Puff Daddy's threat of "VOTE OR DIE"), but he brought together a serious cross section of every type of person!

But of course, being the person that I am, the part that I thought was the absolute coolest, was how he allowed several prominent street and alternative artists to create imagery for his campaign. Obviously we all know and saw the Sheppard Fairey images:

Theres also the Upper Playground poster series (with which they sponsored a "Wheatpaste Obama across the US" tour):

and lets not forget the ridiculously awesome hypebeast BA-ROCK Rock Smith shirts (Re-released after his victory apparently, so if you didn't cop when they first came out, make sure you do now!)

And these are just a few.

So let me just recap because I know I can be long winded at times: HOW COOL IS IT TO BE ALIVE IN A TIME WHEN STREET ART IS AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF CAMPAIGNING FOR PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA??????

Big Shit Poppin'

I have an idea of what needs to be done to keep me on my path.

I have ideas of things to come.

Testing this out to see if I can post using this account instead of my other one. TOO MANY GMAILS!
I want to try to use my blogger more because I've been slacking on keeping up with my writing, and maybe I can hone in on my typing abilities that are not on my iPhone.

So ALL last month I've been prepping for the Reetbot Solo show at Cre8ery. Last night was the launch and I'm happy to report that so far the show has been a success! So maybe all of the stress was worth it. Aside from one thing, but we will leave that complaint off the internet for prying eyes to see. Lets just say I get incredibly frustrated when people try to do things behind my back, and I hate when I have to rely on other people, because I have a hard time delegating tasks.

Yeah, hey, newsflash: I'M A CONTROL FREAK!!

But that's where the next part of this entry comes in.

I've decided that I am going to apply to go back to school next fall. I want to take CreComm at RRC. I want to take my concentration in Public Relations, and maybe become an event planner, or something of the sort. Yeah, I know, right? How does this even happen! I feel silly that it took me so long for me to come to this idea, but I think I needed to work in a shitty industrial job before I realized that I needed a CAREER. And yeah, printing could be a career, but thats all I would ever do. Printing. You can be a printer or..... a printer. And printing used to be fun for me, but now I just get depressed at my job. And thats not good for me, as anyone who knows me knows.

So yeah. What are your guys' thoughts on this plan. Its a 2 year course, so its my 2 year plan as of now. After that who knows, but if I can look ahead 2 years for this then I think I'm doing a lot better than I was before.

SO stay tuned for further updates, and for any quick entries, remember to check out my tumblr.

left out of the blogging loop.

Sorry peeps, it's been a while. I've been working my ass off for the show and trying to forget my birthday is coming up and I will soon be *gasp* 24. Thats almost OLD!

I'm still too busy to really write anything, but here's a few stimulating tidbits to keep you ch-ch-checking me out:

Adbusters article on Hipsters

kind of funny.

The Twerk Team

my new Youtube obsession. Seriously.

A video I found on HIPSTER RUNOFF of barely legals in American Apparel being skanky.

Also, watch for the fact that one of them cant stay in her tights/top and keeps pulling on them.. hah.

All of these are probably old. I don't care that much, just some stuff I have been using to occupy my time with.

Blog about Minneapolis (finally)

So have I mentioned how much I love Minneapolis?
My Auntie Sheila and Uncle Patrick were going to Minneapolis to visit their cousin Amanda (my second cousin) and they decided to take me along with them! Yay!
So we left at about 10, and after a 45 minute wait at the boarder, we were on our way!
A quick stop in Grand Forks at th Target for lunch yielded some awesome results. For $7 I got 4 mini bagel sandwiches and an awesome fruit and yogurt parfait with raspberries and mangoes and granola!

Yum!
The rest of the drive flew by with some good tunes and good hanging out. Turns out my Auntie loves Soljah Boy. Who knew?
We saw an overpass that was being held up by a guy in a cherry picker, and it turns out that a sanitation truck didn't have its ladder all the way down and took out a chunk of the overpass. Weird.
We stopped off for some shopping in Albertville. Which is always awesome. Got a few things.
When we got to Minneapolis and we checked into our hotel room. I had my own room on a completely separate floor and everything! It was awesome.

(Big flat screen tv for watching Cartoon Network)
We ate at a restaurant called Majors and then crashed early to be prepared for the next day.
Saturday we woke up early and went for breakfast at Ikea! We hit the Mall of America where I was given free reign to wander at my own whims as long as I met up at the appointed times. It was awesome, and it only took me about 3 hours to look everywhere I wanted to! However, Auntie Sheila had never been to the Mall before, so it took her a bit longer. We ate a late lunch at an Italian bistro in the mall, which was tasty.
When we were done we all went back to our hotel rooms to freshen up so we could go for dinner. This was our big dinner night so we decided on a place called Chino Latino which was AMAZING. If you ever get a chance to go, make sure you do. Everyone else decided to drink in the hotel bar after, and I went to bed early.
Sunday morning we drove to downtown, to the fancy Nicolette Mall. We ate breakfast at an Irish pub called the Local. Super great food and good service, would recommend. We shopped at Macy's and Sak's off Fifth. Then we jumped back to the mall for a quick jaunt, and then we were on our way home.
All and all a productive trip! I had alot of fun and let my Auntie in on a bit of my life. She now likes Girltalk, MIA, and the Cool Kids. And she also got some crazy deals!
I'm happy with what I bought too.

clockwise from l-r: zoo york deep v, zoo york krylon tee, miska logo tee, i <3 haters DGK hoodie, air flight '89s, bumper car dunks, panda lows, huf fours, krew crackle shirt

yup!

OH YEAH. these are things I had to pass on because they didn't have my size.
-Adidas Top Tens in purple and lime green
-Nike Air Assault lows in white
-Nike Air Assault highs in black and green
-Nike Air Flight 89s in white with the crazy coloured bottom.

frustrations.

I'm incredibly hurt. But what else is new. Again and again, I elect to trust you and try to be your friend, but every time I open my life to you, you hurt me. So I'm done with it. I'm done with trying to make plans with you, only to have you fling them aside at the drop of a hat. I'm tired of trying to be nice to your friends who clearly don't like me at all, but don't have the balls to say it to my fucking face. I'm tired of the blow out fights we have because you don't see what you do as hurtful, and when I do tell you that it hurts me, you try to tell me that it shouldn't, and that I'm being irrational (because really, when someone hurts you, they are the ones who can tell you what hurts you and what doesn't, right?). And the only reason I'm writing this very passive aggressive blog entry, is because I am trying to avoid one of said blow out fights, because I honestly think that having one right now would land me in the hospital. The best part about this is that you probably wont even read this. Or you will and you'll ignore it. Or you will, and you'll come to me and ask me why I made all of this public (because I'm clearly not allowed to talk about how I feel) and chastise me yet again and make me feel like garbage for actually caring about our friendship. And even better than that, is that this is completely my own fault, because I keep letting you in, again and again and again. I keep doing this to myself, because I AM the only one that cares about this friendship. So thats it. I'm really tired of being dragged through this when you clearly don't want to be involved. And this time I'm not going to wait around for you to come to the realization that you've lost a really good friend, so when you do come to apologize, don't be surprised when I say, thats not enough anymore.

I'm sorry to anyone that isn't who this is about had to read it, but it gives a very good insight to what my life feels like right now, and why I'm so stressed and unable to maintain a friendship with anyone else, because I have been putting most of my effort into trying to save this one, only to have it backfire on me every time. But that's going to change starting now. I'm not going to let this dictate how I live or how I feel anymore. I'm finished. From now on I only want my friends to be positive people who help me when I need help and I help them when they need help. People who lift each other up instead of holding each other down. And people who can see when their actions hurt someone, and own up to it and fix the problem without having to be told. I have good friends like this that I have been neglecting because I wanted so badly for this friendship to work. And to those friends, I apologize.

Saturday Morning Round-up.

Good morning!

This week has been incredibly rough on me, I have to say. Work is stressfull, my roommate came back, and its been raining a bit here. Last weekend I barely got anything accomplished that I wanted to get done, so I think that contributed to the whole week being thrown off kilter. But a few good things did happen for sure! Let's make a list of them:

My shoes came in at Urban Bakery! These are the ones I will be getting as soon as my next paycheck comes in:

I also have these ones on hold:

so I can't wait for some new shoes!

My panda necklace also came in the mail! Very exciting. If you are interested in anything from this woman, I would say snatch it up quick! Her pieces are BEAUTIFUL and very original (I looked everywhere for a panda charm like this, all I could find was owls and deers in stores, blech) and her prices are SO reasonable (I've seen pieces like these elsewhere for $100+). Here is a link to her eBay store

With the return of my roommate came 1.89 liters of Turkey Hill Raspberry Iced Tea and M.I.A.-Kala on vinyl!

I moved my painting and screen printing stuff into the new shared studio space! (Pictures to come soon)

And to cap everything off, my boss at work is going to buy me the 36"x36" quarter inch plexi I need for my exposure unit!! Woo!! I've worked up some plans which I plan on posting online once I am finished, but basically the idea for my unit is going to be an all in one for storage, exposing, and hand printing, with only a 3ft squared shop footprint! Now if only I could find one of these tiny adorable drying racks.

Today, I am hoping to hit  a couple of places to go looking for a bike. Wish me luck!

Things I am going to do, or have done this week/end.

I get more done before 9 a.m. than the army!

This morning, I lost my tweezers (poo), called my bank to fix things up (yay), and threw out all the garbage in my bedroom (finally).

Today, I have Kara's grad, taking her to get her makeup done, hopefully she can come over for a little bit after to help straighten the back of my hair? Ha. And hopefully Siuleen has a minute to do my eyebrows.

Tomorrow, I will hopefully be building one of these:

and then going to meet Walter to give him the checks for our studio space!! So excited.

Yesterday I went to the Urban Bakery to give them these:

and pick up these:

my next big purchase will probably be a new bike, something along the lines of these:

and if anyone is so inclined to spend $12,000 on little old me, Chanel makes a fabulous coaster bike!

(all bike pictures taken from coolhunting's article on bikes for girls. squee!)

My favorite thing to do is complain...

I just need to say something about this

(this ad chosen specifically for someone special. heh)

http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?friends#/group.php?gid=16687558019

I'm sorry, but evolution in an area is NORMAL. The village has been steadily changing for the past TEN YEARS! I've lived near here for almost my entire life and yes, there is "chains" moving in, but as far as I know, there has always been "chains"? Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, etc.. Oh, so sad, a Starbucks moves into a neighbourhood. People cry out; OH NOES, THE LOCAL COFFEE SHOP OF SECOND CUP WILL LOSE TEH BUSINESS! (Um, Second Cup is also a chain!).. American Apparel moves in, and, despite the fact that I don't think they have a store in ANY MALL across North America, people of Winnipeg say PUT THAT SHIT IN POLO PARK WHERE IT BELONGS!! (Again, wtf). There are so many great local clothing store surrounding AA, that if you really don't like the fact that they "took over" the neighbourhood, shop at the local stores!!!!!!! I haven't heard a single local shop owner complain about the fact that AA has moved in. It has opened up many more jobs than the Collective could ever have offered, it brings teh kidz with the parents money out from the suburbs to spend not only in AA, but in Hush, Shout, Out of the Blue, and Mixtape, and gave a much needed facelift to a building that was basically one of the ugliest structures in the village (peeling ass red and blue paint with a terrible awning that was torn and falling apart, broken windows, and black frames around all of them, dark and gloomy all around, and yes I admit that brown maybe isn't the nicest colour, but they really brightened up the whole area with their well lit windows and bright coloured displays).

I'm sorry that you all lost your precious Indie night, 80's night, and Goth night, but lets face it, Indie has been replaced by Dj Nights, 90's are the new 80's, and if you still went to goth night, I really don't care about your opinion on things. (Just kidding, but really? Goth night?)

I'm sure once this trend of tights and teeshirts, Arafat scarves and fake Wayfarers, skinny jeans and gladiator sandles ends, American Apparel will go the way of the rave stores and the many many used cd shops that used to grace the village at one point.

slash end rant.

When I'm bored, I Blog.

I've been checking out alot of really cool blogs today, and wish i could keep up with my blogging better.

So this is my promise to you, my readers, that I am going to try to make this blog more substantial and interesting for you to read.

And to start:

http://davidhorvitz.com/if/index.html

"If you give me any amount of money I will cash it, put it in my pocket, grab my camera, and walk out my front door not knowing what I will do. I will then travel somewhere for as cheap as possible. I will keep just enough money so that I can get back. I will send you all the receipts and documentation of this. This is for any amount. If you give me $1 maybe I will walk out my door and buy a chocolate bar and then come home. If you give me $123 maybe I will get on a greyhound bus headed for who knows where. I will go somewhere and I will send you photos of there."

This guy is awesome.

I just have nothing to say as of late.
I've been working my ass off at work, trying to get my living space organized, and trying to make some art because I'm in a creativity lull right now (i just spelled that as lul, as in "epic luls"...I read too many lolcats).
Chopped my hair off on friday, went out and had a shit time at the bar, but looked damn good doing it?
I'm also looking at dropping a couple good chunks of change right now, one on that LRG limited edition panda watch, and another huge on on a new camera, a Cannon XTI to be exact.
Been staying up way too late too. So off to bed I go!

My Messy Bedroom...

Sometimes I feel like my life is falling apart.

But lately its just my bedroom.

Its been driving me insane how messy it is, so I decided this week will be

SPRING CLEANING!!!!!!!

So I went to Dollarama today and picked up some baskets and other organizational crap, and some shadow boxes to put some toys in! And after I deposit my GST check, I will go to Wal-Mart and buy some large frames for some of the amazing posters I have that I haven't put up yet. I will also try to hang all of my framed art!

I will also be throwing out/selling/giving away alot of things, so watch for my posts on Facebook.

Just so you guys have an idea of what my room looks like now, here are some photos from tonite:

Yup. Disgusting.

I'm no expert, but I frikkin love it when people try to argue with me about what merits being called "street art" and then can only drop names like "banksy" and "invader".

Oh well, at least they didn't say anything about my favorite, Shepard "Farley".

On that note, here is some awesome street art from Winnipeg.

Going for what I want.

SO this weekend has been dubbed the weekend of bad decisions.

Its okay though. Mistakes can be made if only to learn from them.

Had a good chat with my homie today. He said that yeah, its all well and good to sit back and let things come to me, but if I really want something, I need to go out and get it. And he's right. Plus he fed me cheesecake. Any friend who's willing to feed you cheesecake is a friend worth keeping in my books.

But seriously, can I mention how much I love my friends? My friends, who hold my hair and my purse while I'm sprawled on the floor of the Albert puking. My friends who stick me in the backseat of a cab and make sure that I get home okay. My friends who hug me and tell me that I'm not an idiot for doing what I did. My friends who are there for me, no matter what, who text me at 4 am to make sure I'm okay, who text me at work all day to keep me entertained, who tell me I'm gorgeous even when I'm fat, who tell me I look beautiful after I have cried my eyes out, and who encourage me to get what I want.

I love my friends.

Longest Week Ever....

My brain was fucking bubbling over with thoughts today, but I just can't seem to articulate them! It's like that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine doesn't have sex for like, 3 weeks, and gets dumber and dumber. Thats how I feel. Only its been like, 6 weeks. So imagine how stupid I feel right now. Anyways, here's a dream recap for ya'll. I was in a Superstore-like supermarket. Buying meat at the butchers counter. My friend Kody was the butcher. (Holy Significance?). I was there with my friend Sabrina. I was in line and I start talking to this girl who was wearing a Dude Fest teeshirt and had a tattoo of an arm band of pandas surrounded but a red background. All the pandas were doing different things.Noting this specifically so that I can remember it for when I plan my next tattoo. Anyways I was blocking the whole line so Kody was like, get lost! And I said, I'll leave if you make a coffee date with me. So he did, and then i leave, grab my stuff and go home to get ready. Sabrina drives me home and we go to my apartment which was in the basement of a house. The cats had destroyed everything. I had to clean up and lost track of time, didn't have time to get ready for coffee, and had to leave. Thats when i woke up.

Whats Up Houston Whats Uuuuuuuuuup

Don't you love it when someone just suddenly drops off from talking to you? Good thing I'm a giant bitch anyways and take shit like this in stride. Been to the Gym every day this week. Lost another 5Lbs. Score. I'll be so hot by the time summer rolls around, I wont be able to keep the dudes offa me. Except the fact that I'm obnoxious.

Exciting Weekends Part One.

SO! I had a little bout with the anxiety, but I should be back on track.

Things are okay! I've been going out alot, but thats okay! I'm also flat broke, but that may be the result of going out all the time. Hah.

I need to start chronicling my weekends alot better because they've started to be a little bit crazy, and I would be nice to be able to remember some of them.

Like how on the long weekend, I was out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! But for the life of me, I cannot remember what I did in detail. OH! Now I remember.
Friday was Red Bull 3 Style with Janelle, Steve, and Sarah

Saturday was the Toad with everyone ever. No pictures, but I drank about a liter of gin to myself, and was beautifully drunk all night. Probably for the best there was no pictures hah.

Sunday was DJ Eleven at the Pyramid, and it was probably one of the best parties so far.

Then I had to work all week. Blah blah blah.

Then LAST weekend...

Friday was Jokers Of The Scene, where I went with Steve, but he bailed super early, so I hung out with Karlie, Amanda, Dani, Ryse et al. I have to tell you that them Exchange Event Centre makes the BEST vodka lime and water's EVER.

here is one of said VLW's dripping down my shirt.

Saturday was White Teez and Stunnah Shadez with Sarah Pogz. That was a fucking crazy night. There were fights, someone through a beer bottle at the DJs, Lauren got punched in the face. Obviously it started sucking, so when I got a txt from Kody that him and some friends were at the Windsor, you know I was down for escaping. So me and Lauren walked over there and partied there till they closed the bar. Lauren went home and I went to hang out at Kody's friend's Nik's place until about 3:30 when Kody and I walked home and I passed out. (I'm assuming he did too. Hah)

Then I had to work all week again. Boo.

This weekend is looking promising as well. First of all, yesterday I went to Electric Babylon to book an appointment for my FIRST TATTOO EVER! I'm going to see Andrew (aka Panda), and hes doing me a trad style panda with flowers and bamboo. I'm VERY excited. I have a couple months to get pumped about it, but I will be so happy once I see a drawing.

Then last night I went to see Crystal Castles and Health with Steve, Karlie and Amber. Pretty much anyone who is ANYONE was there. It was a blast. I'll post more about this on Sunday.

Tonite is Getting Cold Stupid with Cupid: Hockey vs Rap. I'm excited!

I'll be surprised if anyone actually took the time to read this. Lol. Cross posted to Facebook and Blogger.
